The Record Shop pop-up at MoMA Design Store

Start

In celebration of K11 Musea’s first anniversary in Hong Kong, MoMA Design Store is launching The Record Shop pop-up for a limited time only, from the 17th of September to the end of November 2020. For all you old-school, vinyl record enthusiasts out there, this pop-up showcases the thriving nature between music and art in our day and age.

Artists from generations before us are honored as we live through the evolution of music and constant shift in the creative industry. You have The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis and The Rolling Stones to name a few. The Record Shop pop-up gathers the world’s most well-known vinyl records with covers designed by the likes of Andy Warhol, Yoko Ono and Raymond Pettibon. Each artist’s work on the covers is an interplay between how music can be an influential element to design and vice versa. There is also a selection of LPs, concert posters and books that add a splash to art in music before us.

“The connection between music and design can be seen for decades. This pop-up is a celebration of that relationship, acknowledging the significance of art in music.”

Emmanuel Plat, Director of Merchandising at The Museum of Modern Art
