Valentine’s Day is over but achieving a natural everyday look is a persistent endeavour that will most likely never go away! We all want beautiful clear-looking skin that has a smooth texture. Having the right skincare routine is important, but let’s elevate our look with makeup. The makeup we aim for is light in texture with a barely-there finish, and this is a prized look of mine. Scroll through to see what to use!
Start your base with a primer. I don’t remember how I got through the days way back when I just put foundation on without prepping my skin. Of course, I would use my regular moisturisers, but primers add an extra layer of hydration, allowing makeup to glide on your skin smoothly and evenly. There are loads of primers out there, from ones that will give you glowing skin to ones that will leave a matte finish for those with an oily skin type. Better yet, some primers offer SPF protection, so it doubles up as a sun protectant!
After primer, I use a liquid moisturising foundation, which my go-to favourite is Shiseido’s Program D Skincare Liquid Foundation. It’s not heavy at all, rather, it’s light and gives a barely-there effect that reveals the skin’s natural beauty instead of covering it. To apply it, I use my trusty beautyblender sponge to thoroughly blend the foundation onto my skin for an even complexion. Spritz some facial mist onto the sponge to give your look a plumped effect. I proceed with an undereye concealer and apply it using the tip of my beautyblender sponge.
For a bit of glow, I use a liquid highlighter on my cheekbones and the tip of my nose and then apply a little dab of some rosy, blush pink color on top just to draw out a richer complexion and give my natural makeup look some warmth.
We’re nearly there! One thing I must do before leaving the house, besides putting on sunscreen, is to fill in my brows. Without my brows, I cannot start my day. It sounds dramatic, but seriously. Drawing and filling in the brows, I find, enlarges my eyes and gives me a livelier appearance, like I’M AWAKE! You can also curl your lashes for the same effect, but my eyebrows are one of my prized possessions.
To finish the barely-there makeup look, pat on some setting powder to maintain the look throughout the day. Setting powder lessens the appearance of oil buildup, leaving us with a fresh, matte finish. Et voila, achieving the barely-there, no makeup, makeup look is as simple as that!
